TestRail 9.3 Is Here: Secure Jira Integration & Smart Test Case Labeling

TestRail 9.3. release

We’re excited to announce that TestRail 9.3 is now available! This release delivers two powerful updates designed to help QA teams work more securely and efficiently: a refactored Jira integration using OAuth2 authentication and a new Labels feature for organizing test cases and tests.

Keeping your Jira integration secure and seamless

Keeping your Jira integration secure and seamless

As part of Atlassian’s ongoing security updates, TestRail 9.3 moves away from API keys and now supports OAuth2 authentication for built-in Jira integrations. This change helps ensure long-term compatibility and provides:

  • Enhanced security for your testing workflows
  • Improved user management and control
  • Future-proof integration with Jira Cloud

Depending on your configuration, OAuth2 will need to be set up again at the user, project, or instance level. The transition process is designed to be straightforward, with minimal disruption to your workflow.

Organize your tests like never before with labels

TestRail 9.3 also introduces Labels, a new way to categorize and manage your test cases and tests with greater flexibility.

With Labels, you can:

  • Tag related test cases and tests for quick reference
  • Filter views more efficiently to surface what matters most
  • Navigate large test suites with ease
  • Improve reporting and organization at scale

Labels can be created and applied directly in the UI and are visible in test case views, test runs, and reports, making it easier to manage complexity across your projects.

Organize your tests like never before with labels

Why these updates matter

These enhancements reflect TestRail’s continued focus on security, usability, and robust integration. Whether you’re aligning with compliance requirements or scaling your test management practices, TestRail 9.3 gives your team the tools to stay in control.

Getting started

To get the most out of TestRail 9.3, we recommend the following next steps:

  • Review and update your Jira integration settings to switch from API keys to OAuth2, if you’re using the built-in integration.
  • Start using Labels to better organize, filter, and report on your test cases and tests.
